Bridge Club News
The club celebrated Betty Bevins' birthday on Monday 15 April. Flowers accompanied a tribute by the President.
Betty has been a stalwart member of the club for many years - and it was great to see the well wishes of the other Monday players.
Thank you to Annegrete Kolding for the photo.

Ten teams competed in the 2019 Gold Point Teams (GNOT qualifier) event over three weeks in March.
Congratulations to the Davies team (Alan Davies, Vivien Eldridge, Alexander Cook and Tony Allen) who triumphed with a win over second placed Farmer team (David Farmer, Cath Whiddon, Jocelyn Bertram, Lyn Smith) in the last round - we played a 9 match round robin so all teams played all of the other teams.

Thirty four pairs competed for the 2019 Michael Marks Shield glory on Saturday 30 March, but only one pair, Terry and Jim Rothwell was able to triumph.

12 teams from Brisbane Waters Bridge Club travelled south to our club on Sunday 31 Mar for the annual Peninsula vs Peninsula interclub teams challenge. Most travelled by ferry across Broken Bay and were picked up in a convoy of cars excellently organised by John and Margaret Rogers.
It was a very enjoyable day. Vivien pulled the event together superbly, helped by Ronnie as director and by contributions of time and food by many Peninsula members. Special mention to Barbara Anderson who spent half a day volunteering without playing. I believe we made a good impression on our guests!
Six of us from Peninsula (Susan Eason, Sandy Carter, Sandie Rooke, Andrew Ikin, Sarah Young and Gayle King) travelled across the Blue Mountains to Orange for two days of bridge at the NSW State 2019 Novice and Restricted Pairs - March 23-24.
The countryside was very dry once we left the Blue Mountains and then we hit some heavy rain so let's hope it is a beginning of a good Autumn rainfall for the tableland farmers and gardeners.
Sandie and Andrew played in the Restricted (less than 300 MP) section. The rest of us played in Novice (less than 100 MP).
Eight teams from Peninsula Bridge Club joined teams from across Metro North region at Trumps Bridge Centre on Sunday 10 Mar to battle for the Margaret Smale Interclub Teams Challenge trophy.
In the end Trumps managed to retain the Margaret Smale Interclub Teams Challenge trophy beating North Shore Bridge Club 12 to 11, well ahead of third placed Peninsula Bridge Club (who squeaked in ahead of Manly-Warringah Leagues Bridge Club). Only a few Peninsula teams did well throughout the day.
