Easter Raffle - Contributions Wanted

To support the club's charities, we are organising a Good Friday raffle.

We are now seeking donations of wine, chocolate and Easter eggs to make one large hamper as the raffle prize. Donations can be left in the basket on the table where PPVs are usually sold.

The raffle will be drawn and the winner of the hamper announced at our afternoon session on Good Friday (19 April).

President's Letter - April 2019

Dear members,

April sees the start of the Autumn Individual Competition on Mondays which is a great opportunity to play with different partners over 4 Mondays (only three scores count so you can start on Monday 8 April).

On Sunday 28 April, Peninsula hosts the annual Swiss Teams Congress - a great day for players of every level of experience. Swiss Teams means that you quickly find yourself playing with similarly experienced players and it is a lot of fun. The sign- up sheet is on the noticeboard and you can sign up as a team of four, or as a pair to be matched up.

Alerting guidelines for players

Players often ask about alerting requirements.

This summary constitutes part of the ABF Alerting Regulations, and is intended as a brief guide to players.

Players should be familiar with the full regulations, and should try to support the fairness and enjoyment of our game by complying with both the letter and spirit of these guidelines.

Gold Teams (GNOT Q) 2019

Ten teams competed in the 2019 Gold Point Teams (GNOT qualifier) event over three weeks in March.

Congratulations to the Davies team (Alan Davies, Vivien Eldridge, Alexander Cook and Tony Allen) who triumphed with a win over second placed Farmer team (David Farmer, Cath Whiddon, Jocelyn Bertram, Lyn Smith) in the last round - we played a 9 match round robin so all teams played all of the other teams.

Check the full results on our website. The top two teams able to play in the Metro Final will have their entries paid for by the Club.

Peninsula vs Peninsula 2019

12 teams from Brisbane Waters Bridge Club travelled south to our club on Sunday 31 Mar for the annual Peninsula vs Peninsula interclub teams challenge. Most travelled by ferry across Broken Bay and were picked up in a convoy of cars excellently organised by John and Margaret Rogers.

It was a very enjoyable day. Vivien pulled the event together superbly, helped by Ronnie as director and by contributions of time and food by many Peninsula members. Special mention to Barbara Anderson who spent half a day volunteering without playing. I believe we made a good impression on our guests!

State Restricted and Novice Championships 2019

Six of us from Peninsula (Susan Eason, Sandy Carter, Sandie Rooke, Andrew Ikin, Sarah Young and Gayle King) travelled across the Blue Mountains to Orange for two days of bridge at the NSW State 2019 Novice and Restricted Pairs - March 23-24.

The countryside was very dry once we left the Blue Mountains and then we hit some heavy rain so let's hope it is a beginning of a good Autumn rainfall for the tableland farmers and gardeners.

Sandie and Andrew played in the Restricted (less than 300 MP) section. The rest of us played in Novice (less than 100 MP).
