Peninsula at Trumps' Good Friday Pairs

Congratulations to Lyn Smith and Cath Whiddon for making the final field and being first of all the Peninsula Pairs who played in the Trumps Good Friday Pairs Congress. A great result - no wonder they're smiling!

Lyn and Cath came 8th in the final field ahead of another Peninsula pair Ian Bailey and Lynn Baker who came 11th. Sixty four pairs competed on the day overall.

Check the results for the final field and you can check the results for the morning session and other fields on the same site.

ABF praises Peninsula's education program

Bruce Neill, President of the ABF, attended the Teacher Training Program Day at Peninsula Bridge Club on 9 April 2017 as an interested observer.

He expressed his support for the successful Bridge Education Program that operates at Peninsula. "The lifeblood of any bridge club is its education program, and is key to the growth of the bridge community."

He praised the wonderful work that Cath Whiddon does for the game of bridge, as director of bridge education at Peninsula and as a teacher trainer conducting Teacher Training Program days. "Part of the ABF Strategy is to ensure that bridge teachers are well trained and use modern teaching materials and methods."

ABF teacher workshop

Cath Whiddon gave a brilliant Teacher Training workshop at Peninsula today which was attended by people from all over NSW - from South of Wollongong to Coffs Harbour.

Bruce Neil, the president of the Australian Bridge Federation (ABF) was present to support Cath and explain how important the Bridge education program was to the future of the game. All the smiling faces show just how well received the workshop was.

Declarer Play - Entries Workshop with Joan Butts

When declarer makes their plan, the last consideration must be to decide in which order they will take their tricks. This Joan Butts Bridge Declarer Play - Entries workshop on Saturday 8 April (9.30-11.30am) will give you an easy plan to make sure you reach those winners. It is multi-level material suitable for all improving players.

Workshop is followed by the nornal duplicate game at 12.30pm with hand analysis led by Joan Butts and Cath Whiddon, along with a glass of wine and cheese, at 4pm

You can come to both without a partner.

Check the event for full information including costs and how to book.

Farewell/thanks to Jen Ardill

During the afternoon tea break on Saturday 25 February our President, Sarah Young, acknowledged the contribution that Jen Ardill has made to the Club since she first joined six years ago.

Jen has not only learnt the game of Bridge herself, but also been part of the Bridge education team, encouraging and helping new members to learn the game. She has run the library effectively and obtained the latest books for us to borrow. She has played with different partners and mentored many.

Her sense of humour and presence at the sessions will be missed, as Jen is leaving us and moving to Victoria in order to be closer to her family. Cake and flowers were the order of the day.  Good luck and thank you, Jen.
